Maira Isabel was born into a culturally diverse family coming from Cuba, Venezuela, Spain, and Puerto Rico where she grew up and currently resides. In 2007 Maira Isabel wrote her first cookbook “Gourmet Para Todos Los Días” (Gourmet for Every Day) that quickly went onto be the #1 cookbook in Puerto Rico and stayed there for 10 weeks. Her second book is on the works and will be ready in 2010.
She is the chef of Telemundos’ Levantate show. Beside she works as a culinary consultant, food stylist, and product developer. She also acts as a spokesperson for various food products. In 2009 she appeared in multiple segments on Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” which spotlighted Puerto Rico. Maira Isabel recently started the online culinary magazine “Gourmetish.com” and continues to cultivate an international fan base.
